Baby Constipation? Read This Helpful Advice to Cure Your Baby's Constipation!

Has your baby ever started crying uncontrollably for no apparent reason? This could happen after you have fed the baby, changed it and made sure that the baby is comfortable. You are left wondering what more you can do to make it stop crying. Baby constipation could be the problem. Most parents miss constipation signs in their babies and watching a baby suffer in pain can be very stressing to parents. Constipation is very common among babies so you should not think that your baby has a very serious illness, although constipation could also be a sign of underlying illness.

Baby constipation can be blamed on several factors, bottle fed babies are more prone to constipation because formula milk is said to be harder to digest than breast milk. When introducing a baby to solid foods, the baby might get mild constipation as the digestive system adapts to the new type of food. Lack of enough water leading to dehydration can also cause constipation. This is because if the baby lacks enough water, the body reacts by absorbing more water from what the baby eats thus leading to constipation. Constipation can also be caused by a birth defect called Hirschsprung's disease.

Although baby constipation is easily treatable, not treating it early enough can have devastating effects. Constipation is where stool becomes dry and the baby can go up to three days without passing stool. Dangers associated with constipation include, re-absorption of toxins back into the body which can lead to serious infections that spread rampantly because a baby's cells are less immune to infections compared to adults. When the baby is passing very hard stool, the stool can cause rectal fissures. This is when a tear appears on the walls around the rectal canal. Rectal fissures are an entry for pathogens.

To avoid, cure or ease baby constipation, apply the following baby constipation remedies. If the baby is on formula milk, consult the doctor and ask for advice before changing the formula milk. For weaned babies, apple juice is a great remedy for it has non-digestible sugars that cause water retention. To avoid constipation in babies, give your baby foods rich in fiber, fruits and have them drink water regularly. For a baby who is already constipated, try easing the pain by massaging the baby's tummy but stop if the baby seems not to enjoy it or rotate the baby's legs in a cycling motion.
